Started in the summer of 1999, this
246-room hotel which was built on top of the existing Isle of Capri casino and
parking garage in Blackhawk, Colorado was a major challenge for Delta Dry Wall,
Inc. The project was quite unique in the sense that we would be erecting the
structure with load bearing structural steel studs, and joists that had to
withstand 125-mph winds. Delta assisted with the design criteria, which was
accepted by Martin/Martin Engineering and eased the difficult challenge that
lay ahead. There had never been another building constructed this way in the
world at the time. With the completion expected in less than a year, numerous
studs, track, screws, welds, sheets of drywall, interior finishes and 50,000
square feet of exterior insulation and finish (Dryvit) were applied all ahead
of schedule.
